Chris Rothbauer is...

A theatre artist based in New York City

Born and raised in San Antonio, he discovered how much he loved bringing characters to life by reading Calvin and Hobbes comics out loud to his dad.  He discovered theatre in middle school, and has been hooked ever since.  After years of being active in San Antonio's theatre scene, he relocated to the DFW metroplex in search of new acting opportunities. He is currently located in Brooklyn, and is a graduate of the Stella Adler Studio’s 3-Year Conservatory

His work in Fort Worth includes appearances at Circle Theatre, Bishop Arts Theatre Center, and Stolen Shakespeare Guild. In San Antonio, he has been seen at The Sheldon Vexler Theatre, Public Theatre of San Antonio, and The Overtime Theatre.

His past training includes a BFA from Texas State University, and an apprenticeship with Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, where he fell in love with performing the classics, and was seen on the main stage in The Devil's Disciple.

His goal as an artist is to produce exciting, surprising work that lets an audience know that they are not alone.

Chris is spending his time during the coronavirus pandemic temping from home, doing plays on Zoom (you can catch him performing with The Playground Experiment frequently).
